Cottage for Sale, Must be Moved: A Woman Moves a House to Make a Home by Kate Whouley

This book was a fun read! If you’re like me and enjoy memoirs, construction, and anything cottage-related — you’ll enjoy this book, too. The author shares the tale of finding and relocating a cottage to make an addition on her small Cape Cod home.

A carpenter’s daughter, I love reading about house-building and construction (remember Tracy Kidder’s House? Loved it). Whouley’s book gives enough detail about the house-moving and construction process, that you’ll gain valuable insight if either is in your future.

But, even if you don’t expect to be moving a cottage or building an addition, this book is worth a read to come to know the different characters and personalities Whouley encounters in her cottage project. I enjoyed living with the author and her crew of carpenters, house-movers, foundation builders, electricians, and more. Two thumbs-up!

Check out the author’s website for photos of the cottage move here.

And, you can buy it on Amazon here.
